Thank you for this lovely walk through George’s garden this morning. I look forward to exploring his work, despite his publisher’s’ unfortunate subtitling. 😅
I also look forward to listening to the podcast, which I didn’t know about until now-and I’m ALWAYS up for a good Lewis discussion, so thanks for that!
I personally know that George is correct. 52 years compared with nearly 36 equals a lot of pruning and is very tart but as noted in the second poem, God's gracious patience is the blessing that turns it all into the fruit of my life. I am not in a grey Spring, being in Australia, but I am literarily awash as the south east coast gets hammered by wind and rain. Thank you for still sharing and delighting my day with words and those gorgeous paintings, despite your mood. Happy Birthday!!!

I love George's garden! Thanks for your kind words ❤️
I think I'm going to be sitting and praying with that poem for a long time. Truly something to savor.
Good pun there 😊
Oh, my - what a charming poem, and such richness of your sharing of its meaning. Thank you, and happy birthday!
Thank you! I too find it incredibly charming :)
I love the footnotes on a Substack, that’s so great 😂🤍
