I'm so envious! I tried but failed to get into the one at Chester le Street. There are remnants of one in the church at Skipton and also the windows survive at All Saints York though I have not been able to get into the reconstructed building. I'm still waiting to be able to get into an anchor hold properly!

Ah! I'd love to see those sites. Another visit. I love York.

That window. As you said, straight like an arrow to the altar. I cannot imagine the life at all so I hope that the physical proximity has helped you with this. Being an Australian, I too would find the light odd.

It did help--I think exactly because it's so hard to imagine! And yes, I'd imagine that the light would feel very familiar in Australia for me 😂

There is an anchorhold in Chester in or near Grosvenor Park by the River Dee.

Yes, I looked into that one! But it is a private residence so I didn't visit.

I loved following along with your trip on Instagram. Thank you for sharing with us in more detail here. It sounds like a deeply moving time in which God's Spirit was on the move! I hope it nourishes your soul for many years to come. I am thinking of re-reading The Little White Horse soon too! It's been too long since I last read it.

Grace, I love York too! I would retire there. Living in Edinburgh now, nearly as good. I am pleased you had a lovely visit.
